  3. Introduction
  4. ============
  5. This is a BETA TEST version 2.13 of MineSweeper for OS/2 2.x PM with Multimedia
  6. Extensions.  It resembles the Microsoft Windows 3.1 version, but is
  7. not intended to be a clone of it.

  9. Changes
  10. =======
  11. This version adds digitized audio.  I've tested this only on the PAS-16,
  12. under OS/2 2.1GA MMPM/2.  Please send me bug reports and suggestions,
  13. particularly regarding the digital audio.

  15. Installation:
  16. =============
  17. Simply place Mine.exe, Mine.hlp, and (optionally) Mine.ini and *.wav in the
  18. same directory.  You can run it from the command line:
  19.  
  20.      mine
  21.  
  22. or from the Workplace shell, after setting up an appropriate Program object.
  23. Under this beta version, you'll need to run the program from the 
  24. directory in which the .wav files reside.
  25.  
  26. Terms
  27. =====
  28. This game is Freeware.  You are free to use it and give it to others,
  29. as long as you don't sell it.  It is NOT public domain; I retain copyright.

  31. That said, being a poor college student, I will accept donations of any amount,
  32. sent to the address below.
  33. In exchange, I'll send you the source code (via e-mail if possible.)
  34. But you are not obligated to send me anything.
  35.  
  36. The .INI file
  37. =============
  38. The game stores its settings in its own .ini file; not in a
  39. system .ini file such as os2.ini.  It expects to be able to write 
  40. to this file.  Therefore, you'll have problems if you install
  41. the game to a read-only disk, such as a network drive.  If you do so,
  42. you will get an error message when you exit the game, and your changes
  43. to the settings, as well as new high scores, will be lost.  (Otherwise,
  44. the game will operate properly.)

  46. If you erase the mine.ini file, the program will rebuild it automatically.
  47. In this way, you can clear the high score table and the Option settings.
  48.

  52. anything you send, and will attempt to fix bugs and incorporate reasonable
  53. suggestions.  Please refer to the version (given in the About... box)
